Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work independently on small projects and on larger project teams with chemical engineers, chemists, mechanical engineers/designers, machinists, electrical engineers, and managers to solve technical problems including experimental, operational, and design issues
  • Guide laboratory and pilot scale activities based on technical experience, experimental results and process model simulations using Aspen Plus as appropriate
  • Collection and processing of experimental data
  • Prepare documentation and technical presentations of experimental results
  • Preparation of catalysts
  • General chemical process design
  • Perform day to day operation including start-up and shut-down of Pilot Plants to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific research
  • Assist with the improvement, troubleshooting and modifications of Pilot Plants as needed
  • Develop and document Process flow diagrams and Process instrumentation diagrams
  • Specify process equipment requirements and establish vendor contacts for purchasing equipment
  • General chemical laboratory activities
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • EDUCATION:      Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering preferred, Completion of at least 3 semesters of Chemical Engineering coursework considered
  • EXPERIENCE:    Co-op or internship preferred
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functions
  • Strong fundamentals in Chemical Engineering
  • General understanding of chemical flow systems
  • Good mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • High initiative and the ability to multitask
  • Handles change well and is inquisitive
