Position Description
The Fund Accountant will be responsible for performing accounting, pricing, and reconciliation functions for client mutual funds. Complexity of assignments depends upon level of experience. Perform general ledger accounting functions. Monitor cash settlements, fund share activity, interest, dividend payments, and other cash items to ensure each fund accounts for all activity and is fully invested at all times. Enter trade information as needed, to reflect current positions in each fund's portfolio. Price securities, as required, and calculate the net asset value (NAV) per share for client mutual funds. Investigate and report pricing issues. Communicate the daily NAV, prices, yields, average maturities, and daily accounting related fund information of assigned funds to appropriate sources. Reconcile key accounts and resolve all exceptions on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Ensure compliance with SEC, IRS, and GAAP reporting regulations. Assist in the preparation of schedules-of-investment for quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports for client mutual funds.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required for entry level position. Additional experience of one to six years of mutual fund accounting experience required for higher level positions. Strong organizational skills, high accuracy rate with attention to detail are necessary. Achievement oriented, exhibits initiative in a highly regulated, deadline driven environment. Ability to work independently while under tight time constraints. Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills; team player. Microsoft Outlook and Excel skills required.
