How your role fits into Boldt:

Using a distinctive blend of business, IT, financial, and communication skills, our Director of IT PMO is responsible for defining and enabling the enterprise, operational, and cultural components that drive the successful execution of our IT portfolio. This is a highly visible position with substantial impact. This role will help define and build Boldt's Enterprise Agile strategies, and then work with all levels of the organization to affect positive, sustainable change. We're counting on our Director of IT PMO to drive execution of strategy through collaboration with peers and to support the implementation and management of productivity tools to measurably improve performance as well as integrate constantly changing dynamics into an evolving enterprise methodology and delivery practice. Success in this role is demonstrated by building the best-in-class delivery assurance required at the enterprise level, implementing and maintaining various methods and practices around provisioning capabilities into the business, as well as measurably improving the overall agile maturity across the organization.

Provide Agile Leadership:

  • Accountable for the PMO team with two primary focus areas: Enterprise Performance, and Lean Governance of IT portfolio.
  • Evangelize among the PMO stakeholders and organizational leadership to form a consensus around the strategic vision, associated missions, and the role of the PMO to foster a product-oriented culture and mindset.
  • Lead the identification and development of PMO roles, team configuration and recruitment appropriate to deliver the agreed-upon PMO goals and objectives.
  • Develop and lead the IT Agile Practice, putting in place the systems, processes and ways of working to sustain high performing teams where skill development, increased agility, collaboration and improved ways of working are key to success.
  • Accountable for building and maintaining the agile-at-scale competency and talent strategy at the enterprise level with direct oversight or methodology guidelines and the IT Agile Coaching Capability COE.
  • Evolve and continually improve the interdependencies between business models and operating practices, integrating waterfall, iterative, and agile delivery models into one, cohesive delivery strategy to best meet the evolving business needs.
  • Accountable for the consistency of Boldt operating methodology and associated processes.
  • Engage the organization to ensure continual feedback and identify emerging methodology and alignment needs.
  • Instill a learning culture to continuously inspect and adapt methodology and efficiency.
  • Provide support to goal coaches and KPI leaders ensuring that culture, behaviors, and mindsets support the organization's values.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership team to create and maintain the right mindset and culture to embed continuous improvement.
  • Partner with the Innovation and Op Ex groups to provide Agile thought leadership for the organization and advise the wider delivery community on how best to apply these principles to project and program delivery; act as a SME to coach/mentor others.

Provide management and leadership in elevating enterprise performance and improving lean governance:

  • Assess enterprise or portfolio performance, using metrics and reporting, supporting the organization's progression towards a value based operating model.
  • Assure strategic alignment through prioritization, resource capacity management, key result tracking and program management to achieve strategic vision.
  • Manage and optimize the flow of value through the organization.
  • Foster collaboration between teams, product managers, portfolio owners and invested stakeholders
  • Track and communicate key organization metrics.
  • Escalate and track organization impediments, removing them where possible without causing detriment.
  • Facilitate relentless improvement for the IT organization.
  • Apply a pragmatic risk management stance to design and rollout processes and controls to meet technology needs.
  • Provide indirect oversight of product portfolios providing balance between products and other non-agile initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment to the cross-departmental roadmaps, create a collective plan to manage dependencies.

Required Experience

What we expect from you:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field with 10 or more years of experience in an agile environment and active participation in an agile community; master's degree preferred.
  • Ten or more years of experience in IT and business/ industry.
  • Five to 7 years of agile or product leadership responsibilities.
  • Preferred practical certification:
    • Scrum Alliance Certified Agile Leadership (CAL 2).
    • Scaled Agile Framework Certification (SAFe - SA or SAFe - SPC).
    • Certified Coaching experience is a plus - ICF-CPP.
    • Other certifications: PMP, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading diverse teams and applying systems thinking.
  • Ability to focus on the 'why' as much as the 'what' and the 'how'.
  • Experience in metric-driven delivery and with one or more agile or lean methodologies (Lean, Scrum, Kanban, Devops, FinOps, SAFe).
  • Program management skills and experience, plus significant knowledge of productivity tools with evidence of practical application.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate strategic vision and inspire and motivate staff.
  • Proven track record of transforming large scale delivery from traditional methodologies to agile and beyond.
  • Ability to balance agility with the need for formal risk management approaches through formal processes, while allying empirical continuous improvement to meet the control needs of our business and global regulatory partners.
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills are needed as resources are often not in direct control of this role.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills.
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies and how other enterprises are employing them to drive digital business, and how they may be applied to the enterprise to drive digital business.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a strategic resource plan.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain IT concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to the PMO staff.
  • Strong facilitation skills with experience engaging teams in a collaborative, distributed environment.
  • Ability to listen and support people in problem identification and decision-making, skilled at creating an environment of mutual influence.
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy; ability to encourage the personal development of others; ability to persuade rather than use authority.

Physical requirements and working conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position for up to eight hours. The employee occasionally is required to move to access people or workspaces. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. The ability to optimally communicate is required. The employee may occasionally move up to 15 pounds.

The working conditions of this position requires the employee to work inside an office environment. The environment for which this position functions may contain scents and fragrances. May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
