Job Description

Industrial Journeyman Electrician, 1st shift

PRIMARY FUNCTION
Lay out, install, maintain, diagnose, and repair a variety of complex electrical and electronic equipment involved with plant facilities and production equipment. Provide timely support for Engineering, Manufacturing, and Management pertinent to all aspects of plant electrical maintenance. Participate on problem solving teams to improve methods and process control.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Hand tools, power hand tools, cutoff saws, drill presses, electrical and electronic test equipment associated with trade, programming devices. Pass Forklift Operator's test.

SOURCE OF SUPERVISION
Maintenance Manager

DIRECTION EXERCISED
Although no direct supervisory responsibility exists, an incumbent is expected to train, instruct, and offer guidance to lower level personnel.

JOB DUTIES

  • Perform electrical work on production equipment and plant facilities utilizing the skills normally associated with the Journeyman industrial electrician.
  • Layout, install, and debug electrical and electronic controls utilized within the company working from drawings, sketches and/or verbal instructions.
  • Be able to instruct others in the safe operation of these devices.
  • Provide support for and assistance to production departments to keep production equipment in good repair.
  • Initiate corrective action by maintaining ongoing contact with Engineering, Quality Control, Manufacturing, and others to bring about high quality, timely change.
  • An incumbent will be informed of statistical process control and how it is utilized and applied in the company.
  • Having a working knowledge of statistical process control and participate with others in its application.
  • An incumbent should remain current with state-of-the-art technology by utilizing the technical development program, seminars, courses, trade publications, and other appropriate sources of technical data.
  • Document technical information through descriptive writing, sketches/diagrams, mathematical expression, computation, and graphs.
  • Understand the overall operation and control of machines.
  • Experience with PLC's and drives trouble shooting as well as developing PLC programs.
  • Experience with automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Adhere to good safety practices and keep work area clean.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Industrial Electrician Apprenticeship completion.
